Captain`s Bay in Waynesville

We had a WONDERFUL meal. Wait staff was very courteous and prompt. Our food was hot and delicious. We have no complaints from our visit to Captain's Bay. We will be visiting again soon.

The food was good but the service could use some improvement and the fact that the prices change if you dont use cash should either be posted so you know it before you check out or really be done away with. Looks like wake you use cash your hiding somethi g cause it cant be traced

Typical seafood restaurant.... server was friendly and helpful.... especially long wait for food to be served .... Rib Eye and shrimp were ok .... hush puppies rather tasteless .... shrimp had heavy iodine flavor.... rather greasy ...

Old fashioned country seafood restaurant. Food was acceptable but not fantastic. Prices were not overly high.

The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. Had huge shrimp broiled and they were great.

This restaurant is very underwhelming. All the food is less that mediocre. No flavor in anything really. The hush puppies are decent but that’s about it. Save yourself the trouble and don’t order the crab cakes. They look like deep fried hockey pucks with a terrible taste. Their shrimp pasta came out looking like a pizza with what seemed like a pound of melted cheese on top and plain noodles and shrimp underneath with no sauce or anything yuck.

I've got a couple of friends who really like this place but I can't give it more than a 3 after multiple visits. They do have a good cheese burger special for$6.99! And my daughter loves the light house entrance!

Decided to have my birthday dinner here to try it out again after having a bad experience about 4 years ago. Was so surprised by the portion size(was a full plate) of fried baby shrimp, broiled Swai, hush puppies, and fries! Was fried to perfection and was so happy. Obviously I brought home my leftovers. Will definitely go back!

I love this place the food is out of this world the prices are great the staff is wonderful and I'm going to take my friends there when they come home this place was very busy today but my waitress was on top of the crowd she was great didn't have to no time for my food and it was hot.Thanks Captain's Bay.

Building is old. Our waitress was a bit too friendly. Actually sat down and started talking about herself and other things. Side of mixed vegetables had a strange seasoning. Coleslaw was good. Fried whitefish was okay.

Great seafood. Large dining room and very generous portions. Clean and consistently good food. Plus, there lunch specials for $5.00 with fill anyone up. It's one of two seafood restaurants in Waynesville. Not the expensive one.

Sunday afternoon and the wait staff were tired. The forgot part of my husbands food and we were almost finished eating when one of the staff came by to check on us. We reminded her that he had not received the rest of his food. She promptly brought it. The food was good.

Overall unpleasant environment, entirely open area, no air conditioning, loud, not clean, incompetent staff, unoriginal menu, it's seafood, baked or fried. You're better off visiting the freezer section of your grocery store or ordering a fish sandwich at McDonald's. Nothing to offer at this place, keep moving.

Great menu options and delicious food. Also they give you a generous portion. They offer a nice selection of items for people who or not Seafood lovers. It is the only place I eat when I go to Waynesville, North Carolina. I ordered broiled salmon blackened with blackened scallops. Yum

Really good food and friendly waitstaff.. The decor is a bit aged but it actually adds in a positive way to the experience.. one of my favorite places in Waynesville.

I am still surprised that they're never super busy when we go, but I'm glad. The staff is always very friendly and fast. I love their jumbo shrimp and fried clams.

Food and Service was Wonderful!! Just a couple of things to work on. The slaw was ok, the iced tea was a little weak. Our over experience was good.

Our waitress was very attentive. Never let our drinks even come close to getting empty. She was very good at her job just wished she smiled more. My husband and I both ordered a pasta dish. The salad was bigger than any side salad I have gotten from a restaurant and the ranch dressing was amazing!!! The pasta portions were massive and neither my husband nor I were able to come close to finishing it all. The restaurant itself was extremely clean just appeared that it could use some updating. Will definitely go back.

Everyone in our group enjoyed what they ordered. Service was excellent. Prices reasonable. Went mid-afternoon, so wasn't busy, but several groups of "mature" locals were there - always a sign of a great place! Recommended!

Pretty disappointed after seeing it received 4 plus stars from others, 3 meals and none of them were "great" 2 of them (chicken parms) had nasty chicken and sauce was horrible...

We had an enjoyable mother's day meal. We had of group of nearly 20. The food was very good and they did a pretty good job of managing the group.

The sign at the door says "new menu new prices" same menu less portions higher prices. The captain's seafood special is now $2 more. But now you only get 2 oysters 2 large shrimp. Well really I got one full sized oyster and one not much bigger than a nickel. I never did mind spending $17 because I always had another meal for later with the leftovers. Not this time... $19 and not much left over. Our waitress confessed that the prices are higher and portions are smaller. She also told us that they have had a lot of people complaining and walking out. Well I guess this is another place that will be closing soon. It's a shame it used to be one of our favorite places.

Great food good service!!

Over priced for what you get. The flowered onion was cold, greasy, and over priced. You get 2 frog legs for $7.95, which is ridiculous. I don't mind a 25-30 wait for food in this type of establishment as long as when I get my food is hot and I can't say that about my family's meal. The bad thing is they weren't even busy.

Food is great. Prices are good, especially if you go during lunch. Highly recommend
